'come to me all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest' Matthew 11:28

It's a remarkable paradox that the very possessions that we spend so much of our lives running after in pursuit of ' happiness' are the very same things which bring us stress and weariness. Indeed troubles seem to rise in a wierd ratio to the accumulation of wealth. Sometimes life seems to be nothing but an endless series of battles vanquish one and another appears an endless army of spiteful genies. We strive to reach the summit of the mountain but it always remains tantalizingly out of reach. Similarly with relationships all too often a rollercoaster of ups and downs defying the stability and certainty that we crave.

Surely the problem is we are seeking help in the wrong place like the man going into a brothel looking for a church. You don't find water in a desert take the soil from the plant and it wilts and dies. Stop yourself for a minute and ask the question ‘ where do I feel I came from ? ‘Like staying in another persons house no matter how well they look after you ,how kindly you are treated it simply isn't home. I believe if we are honest with ourselves we all feel slightly out of place except for those sadly, rare occasions where the curtain rises for a second and we are given a fleeting glimpse of what is beyond. Christ came to us from beyond the curtain he is the first place we should turn to for real peace and rest.
