' God saw what he had made and it was very good.'Genesis 1:31

Why didn't God know it was going to be good in the first place? It seems that God like a gifted architect is stepping back to look at what he has created and congratulating himself on a job well done. What intrigues me is that the passage implies the possibility that he may not have found it good. That even the processes of God contain an element of doubt and uncertainty. And in fact almost immediately his troubles with creation begin Adam and Eve disobey him, brother murders brother until even before the end of Genesis he is forced to wash away the whole thing in a flood and start afresh. Surely God could have seen it coming?

Gods gift of free will made it possible for Adam and Eve to disobey him and in fact all the rest of the Old Testament is the story of Gods fractious relationship with his wayward creation. Constantly man disappoints God and time and time again God is forced to reveal himself and make yet another attempt ' to explain the ways of God'. Job is a classic example from its beginning to Gods exasperated tirade at the end there is nothing inevitable or governed in this tale this is very clearly God and man learning on the job. So it's a big dichotomy God who by his very nature is omniscient and omni-present seems constantly having to react to events that are outside his control. By the creation of free will God decided to knowingly and willingly insert into the system ' disruptive technology' as given his nature there was no other alternative. Therefore the birth of Jesus Christ becomes the only logical mechanism by way he puts things right. Politics in America are by any stretch of the imagination tumultuous confused and uncertain yet the constitution provides a reference point an anchor without which the system collapses. I believe that Jesus Christ provides that reference point for mankind without which the process of free will runs wild. God still allows us to do as we please but ' the way the truth the life ' is now in front of our eyes for all time.
