'I am in the father and the father is in me'. John 14

Are Christians morally superior to those of other beliefs. I don’t believe it as Gandhi so memorably said ‘ I would be a Christian if it wasn’t for the Christians I know’. In fact some Christians go so far as to believe that all non Christians will  go to hell. There are millions of right thinking folk in the world who don’t go to church did a loving God create good people in order to send them to hell? Does a young Muslim boy dying in an avalanche in Pakistan deserve damnation?

The whole notion goes completely against what we read in the gospels. The strength of Christ’s message is its universality we are not judged by who we are but by our deeds ‘ for whatever judgement you judge you will be judged ....whatever measure you measure will be measured to you.’ Who are the heroes of Christ’s parables and encounters Samaritans, prostitutes, tax collectors a Roman centurion he judged none of them by their label but by their acts. ‘ In my fathers house are many rooms’ what is the house of God built of Jesus was clear there are no exclusion zones around ‘ love one another’ and before we rush to the moral high ground we are reminded ‘ those without sin cast the first stone’. As Jesus says in Mark 10 Gods grace is extended to all ‘ with man it is impossible but for God all things are possible.’

I believe just as John wrote that Jesus and God are inseparable Christ came to bear witness to the light to demonstrate the ways of God to man. What are those ways ?love, forgiveness, kindness, humility , charity that is what is meant by ‘ I am the way the truth the light’ and it is by taking this to heart no matter what our colour background or belief system that we can draw near to God and he to us. The teachings of Christ are a clear pure everlasting river and we are all invited to bathe in its waters.

Thanks for sharing this, Uncle Nick. Timely message in a time where Christians seem to be dividing people more than uniting. ❤
