I will give you the end of a golden string....it will lead you to heavens gate - Blake

The poet Blake suggests that in everyones life there is a golden thred which if they follow it will lead them to God. But where to find it? Kant suggested "the starry without the moral law within." Which is definitely one starting point. But I believe another sure path is the empirical that the thred lays in clear view for us all if we look for it within our own lives. I have friends that say that they are not interested in searching but of course they are all human beings seek two things happiness and contentment but so often we look in the wrong places , they are seeking God by another name. The first step for seeking our golden thred is on the table before our very eyes.Nothing in the material world brings lasting happiness or satisfaction. Not wealth, possessions, sex, power all eventually leave a void a feeling that we need more. What do we all invariably do? Simply reinforce failure by seeking more of the same like refilling a bucket with a hole in the bottom.

I would argue that evil comes about as a disproportionate desire to satisfy that which can never satisfy. We all at some point ignore Kants starry night and take our thirty pieces of silver. We are looking for God in all the wrong places.First we must ask ourself what are we trying to find within us? Surely the answer is a purpose that brings peace of heart. Experience shows all the other paths lead to disappointment so shouldnt we try opening the door to God? Let him into our life and let his light show us the golden thred in the words of Pascal.

"To look for God is to find him and having found him we can never be permanently seperate."
