If only you had known on this day what would bring you peace! But now it is hidden from your eyes,

An interesting facet of the current Covid crisis has been the massive resurgence of voice communication. In recent times people have come to rely on text messages, email,
Instagram and the like to the point that if you tried to make a voice call, especially for business, people became positively irritated. Slowly but surely we were developing a generation almost devoid of the skills of human engineering. True many companies are recognising this as a serious problem and have begun training their millennials in the simple art of interpersonal relationships which remains a vital part of the business matrix. But Covid appears to have accelerated us to time of reflection on what it is to be human to extraordinary extent.
We are re-discovering that we are hard wired, particularly in times of stress to reach out for the warmth of human contact. There is something in another’s voice which is unique and has a place in our hearts that no amount of digital technology can replicate. I think that for many of us it’s sparked a realisation that the ‘ brave new world’ of soul less data was in fact, especially when the storm rages , a very dark and lonely place and that no amount of ‘ likes’ can substitute for the rock of personal relationships. Bad times have made us realise the isolation of the digital crowd .
Once again life has shown that there lays within us some core truths which are not there by chance. Experience teaches there is a reality even reaching the parts of our world we cannot see or touch ‘ wisdom is proven right by her children’. Today many people are turning back to a belief in God . Chance?desperation? No it’s a part of us just as real as our need for each other. We are children of God and sometimes it takes a cold wind to remind us he is not an optional extra but the central essence of our being ‘ for this peoples hearts have grown callous thy hardly hear with their ears and have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes and hear with their ears understand with their hearts and turn and I would heal them.’ Matt 13
