‘ Let there be light and there was light . God saw that the light was good.’ Genesis 3

Indeed light is synonymous with good. Imagine a world without it no sunrise , sunsets, no light of wisdom , no flame of knowledge , eyes that don’t reflect the light of love. Life would become like being lost in the woods without a torch. Tripping ,falling being hit by branches that you cannot see, no clear idea where the path is leading .Indeed no certainty that there is even a path at all. But switch on the torch and suddenly the trees and their branches are seen their roots visible for you to step over . The path and it’s direction become plain to see and what had become chaos and disorder becomes in a flash of light ordered and clear and the shadows of doubt,fear, unknowing and hopelessness vanish.

This is why I believe in the words of Christ ‘ I am the light of the world’ and why I find the philosophy of atheism impossibly bleak and illogical.With the light of the torch  the trees and the path become real we know they exist. There is an irresistible empirical strength to the light of Jesus message we know from our own experiences that if we follow his light  the path of life becomes illuminated we can believe that there is a destination. Wisdom , mathematics, DNA , physics are the torches that show there is an architect not blind uncertainty. Nothing in life works by chance in all things there is an order a meaning a mechanism.Do good and the consequences are good ,do evil and the reverse occurs without fail. Why should that be so ? Why should good be good and evil evil . Gods candle is offered to all of us we have to choose whether to strike the match.
