I sometimes feel that the human soul is like a bird in a cage. When you first place the bird in the cage initially it tries to escape but slowly it looses its memory of the outside world and the cage becomes its universe and ironically the world outside ‘ the real world’ becomes a threat a place of fear. But open the cage door and after a moment of hesitation it flies back to its home as the river flows into the sea. That is how I see death the opening of the door that allows us home.Yes there is a desire to cling to the ‘imperfect known ‘ but in the end the light is too strong and we release ourselves into its peace.
There is something that throughout life reminds us of the certainty of that life beyond. I believe it is love. They crucified Christ and placed him in a tomb but he was resurrected a love that cannot die. No matter the centuries pass generations come and go but his love remains as fresh and vital as it was 2000 years ago. It defies all we know about the world and the second law of thermodynamics entropy .It doesn’t decay Ronald and Nancy Reagan were buried looking out over the sea. They wanted to be combined together although no longer here. Go anyway where true love has combined with the physical and you will always sense that the love remains you feel it in your soul the one place that cannot lie. How do you discern it is the truth ? Lies like the material always die truth is indivisible and love the ultimate truth.
