' the work of your fingers the moon and the stars'. Psalm 8

What has happened to our sense of awe and wonder ? When was the last time that you lifted your eyes to the stars . We see light that started its journey to us even before life took hold on earth. The light of millions of Suns each with their own solar system. Or stand in a wood and listen in delight as the wind rustles through the trees look at the leaves and the branches as they sway the birds singing the colors of the kingfisher as it shimmers across a still pond a flash of red and blue burnt forever in our memory. We have forgotten that we are part of nature part of the manifestation of divine joy. Everything can become jaded , dull and common place but nature doesn't as it is a part of us and we are a part of it. Look at a human being parted from nature unable to experience its awe and majesty you find a shriveled soul inside a hollow shell. A tree without roots.

Fingers are used to create and by looking at creation we can see as clearly as anywhere Gods will at work a God who loves beauty a God of imagination and awesome power. But fingers also point .The natural world around us is like a huge hand with fingers pointing everywhere indicating one truth . They proclaim ' look look here is your creator as manifest in his glorious creation.' No Dawkins is wrong the watch maker isn't blind our eyes can see for themselves if we only take time to stop and look and the most amazing thing of all is that we are not dumb observers of the universe indeed it exists because of our observation. And that through physics, chemistry, maths we have been given the ability to understand and share. God speaks to us as partners in the greatest miracle ever.
