Truth is reality

How do we know reality? If Richard Dawkins is right and we are all products of a mindless, undirected process there is no objective reality or as some physicists would have us believe reality is the product of observation. I believe that there is a objective reality that divides into two parts the empirical and the historical and by applying our minds to these we arrive at the truth of Christ which sets us free.

Matthew 11 talks about ‘wisdom is justified by her children’. One of the key lessons in life that we discover is that lies are eventually exposed for what they are whereas the truth is indivisible. Lies eventually break apart on the other hand the truth cannot shatter as its unbreakable. Falsehoods constantly need further propaganda and fabrication the truth needs no protection or explanation. Love, hope, mercy and goodness spring eternal as they are totally sufficient in themselves. If we apply the teachings of Jesus to everyday life we escape the web of fate that binds us but everything that is false invariably enslaves. Truth lives in a unique space beyond the material and evolution it is woven into the fabric of existence.

The great author Solzhenitsyn after many years of exhausting study of the terrible crimes committed by mankind in the 20th century wrote in conclusion ‘ men have forgotten God’. History he believed shows conclusively that when God is ignored, persecuted forgotten horror and devastation inevitably follow. Hitler, Stalin, Mao take away God and the devil fills the vacuum. Today we only have to look at Ukraine to be reminded of the horror of a Godless world. God is not ‘ a walk away creator’ he lives within his creation and we forget it at our peril. "I am the way the truth the light’.
