‘ when I consider the heavens the work of thy fingers’ Psalm 8

Atheists often say that the evidence of what we see and know of the world around us speaks for itself when it comes to an argument over belief in a God. I agree completely but unlike them I see the evidence clearly pointing towards a creator. Christians work on the basis that our creator is a benign and loving deity who delights in wisdom ,beauty and joy. He is an adoring father who cares passionately for his creation , who forgives our sins and guides us on the path of righteousness. Whilst understanding simultaneously that true love can only be received and given freely leaving his children the right to choose.

Look at any work of art and whilst Shakespeare is not in Macbeth nor Michelangelo a part of the Sistine chapel the beauty and magnificence of their creations immediately speak of the brilliance and wisdom of their creators . The more complex and ingenious a thing the more we know that it has a creator ‘ nothing comes of nothing’. The ultimate creation is of course our physical world and the marvel that wisdom gives us the ability to understand the beauty and intricacy of its structure . It is intelligible as only something that is created can be.

So we have a God that loves wisdom and beauty therefore we would expect a creation that Is the ‘ manifestation of divine joy’ and that’s exactly what we find in the marvel of the world around us.

Secondly Christians believe that God is all loving and that his love is totally pure and unblemished. Surely then we would expect to find ourselves in a world capable of love, since he would not want to withhold anything so marvellous from his children as the gift of love .The purer and more unselfish the love the greater it’s power . And what do we find ? That we do have the power to love and the purer it is the more beautiful it becomes until it transcends the physicality of decay and becomes divine like its creator and when corrupted it becomes changed into lust, jealousy and lies. If you seek the finger points to exactly what you expect.
